Aug 28, 2014 (newstodate): Iceland's Primera Travel Group is now hiring staff in Latvia for setting up a new subsidiary of its airline, Primera Air Nordic.
In the first place, Primera Air is to move its Network Control Center currently based at Iceland to Latvia, now recruiting a flight operations supervisor to manage the transfer process and establishing the base at Riga.
Other jobs posted so far include the positions as flight support manager, crewing/rostering officer and crew records officer.
Initially, Primera Air Nordic will have one Boeing 737-800 aircraft at its Riga base seeking new European charter business while benefiting from Latvia's lower cost base.
Prime Air's current CEO, Hrafn Thorgeirsson will be CEO of the new Latvian subsidiary as well.
Primera Air Nordic will thus be competing against carriers including Latvia's SmartLynx that is also operating in Estonia, and Small Planet Airlines and Grand Cru Airlines in Lithuania.
