Aug 22, 2014 (newstodate): While more and more air spaces are closed to civil aviation due to political turmoil causing large detours on flights, one air space is gaining in importance.
Mongolia's CAA has now reduced aircraft separation distances from hitherto 90 to 30 km, allowing for increased air traffic flows leading to economic benefits across the country and in the region.
The decision follows on a recent review by Airways New Zealand of the Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority's safety assessment requirements.
Driving the process has been the implementation of enhanced radar control over the air space after the installation of new radars across the country.
