Aug 28, 2014 (newstodate): The Lithuanian carrier Avion Express has been growing fast over the last few years under new ownership.
In 2010 Avion Express was acquired by French investment company Eyjafjoll SAS, formed by Avion Capital Partners of Switzerland, and from a modest beginning with a fleet of SAAB 340 passenger and cargo aircraft, jet aircraft now form the fleet.
Avion Express took in its first Airbus A320 on March 31, 2011, placed on Lithuanian registry and operated by Avion Express on a Lithuanian AOC.
In the fleet are now 12 Airbus A320 and A319 aircraft, making the carrier one of the largest aircraft operators in the Baltic region, and focusing on ACMI operations.
Avion Capital Partners SA, based in Switzerland, was established in 2009 by David Masson and Gardar Forberg, both earlier with the Icelandic company Avion Aircraft Trading, to provide management consultancy to Avion Aircraft Trading.
