Aug 05, 2014 (newstodate): Despite an unruly neighborhood close to Russia, at least one Latvian forwarding company, AirKargo SIA is not overly affected by the current political turbulence.
-We do have a few customers who are mainly in the business for distributing ex-China and ex-US goods to the Russian market, but over-all this accounts for only some 10 percent of our total business volume so we are not too much affected - for the time being at least, says Indulis Blums, AirKargo SIA managing director.
-Our focus is rather on providing services to small and medium-size companies exporting goods to the global marketplace, including for instance equipment for geological surveys and electronic devices, but we are also rather strong in special cargo including dangerous goods as well as transport of live animals etc.
-AirKargo has no plans for expanding beyond our current locality staffed with 10 employees at Riga, preferring to work with like-minded partners in the other two Baltic markets, says Mr Blums.
