Aug 04, 2014 (newstodate): International airlines are increasingly routing their flights between Europe and Asia away from Ukrainian air space after the recent Malaysia Airlines tragedy.
Instead, Iranian air space is being used as the country has declared itself willing to accommodate international transit flights over its territory.
Similarly, the growing unrest in Iraq is driving transit flights away from this country as the US Federal Aviation Administration recently raised the minimum ceiling for flights from 20,000ft to 30,000ft, and this is also driving traffic into Iranian air space instead.
Iran's CAA noted a new record in the volume of international transit flights on August 2, 2014, when no less than 631 transit flights by international carrier passed through its air space.
