Aug 01, 2014 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes on Russian carrier saw little growth in H1, 2014, compared to last year.
Together, Russian airlines carried a total of 465,736 tonnes of cargo and mail, up only 0.9 percent, y-o-y.
The Top-5 carriers AirBridgeCargo, Aeroflot, Transaero, Volga-Dnepr and S7 Sibir Airlines accounted for 79.6 percent of this total, or 378,124 tonnes and together up 4.3 percent, y-o-y.
Leading the pack was ABC, up 24.9 percent, y-o-y, to 244,931 tonnes, Aeroflot was down 28.3 percent 66,511 tonnes, Transaero was up 7.1 percent to 31,060 tonnes, Volga-Dnepr was down 38.4 percent to 17,961 tonnes, while S7 Sibir was up 5.3 percent to 17,661 tonnes.
One exceptional case was Atran Cargo Airlines, climbing up to a position as #8 with 6,127 tonnes after growing volumes by 200 percent, y-o-y.
In October 2011, the Volga-Dnepr Group acquired Atran to provide the company with capability to feed and distribute airfreight on the domestic network connected to the larger freighter hubs.
