Aug 29, 2014 (newstodate): Ever-expanding Qatar Airways is now to increase the volume of service from Doha to two destinations in Central Europe.
Starting from October 1, 2014, the carrier will increase frequency to daily rotations on the triangular route Doha-Bucharest-Sofia served with Airbus A320 aircraft.
Originally, Bucharest was served as an extension of Qatar Airways' flight from Doha to Budapest that became an independent destination for the carrier from September 14, 2011, and the Budapest route was instead continuing to Belgrade from November 1, 2011 until September 2012 when Belgrade was instead served from Doha via Ankara.
Then, also starting from September 14, 2011, Sofia was instead connected to the route from Doha to Bucharest.
Confusing? It proves that Qatar Airways is indeed digging deeply into Central Europe with flexibility.
