Aug 14, 2014 (newstodate): Formerly one of Sweden's largest cargo airports, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is seeing cargo volumes at record-low levels in 2014.
First losing Asiana Cargo's freighter operations to Oslo Gardermoen Airport since September 7, 2012, Gothenburg also lost the freighter rotations by Emirates SkyCargo from July 1, 2014, as the carrier consolidated all freighter operations through Scandinavia at Copenhagen Airport, in Denmark.
According to Swedavia statistics, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport handled a total of 17,372 tonnes of cargo during January-July 2013, but this total dropped by percent to 11.119 tonnes, down 36 percent, y-o-y, during the same period this year.
The demise took a sharp downward turn in July 2014 when total volumes dropped to only 623 tonnes, against 2,361 in July 2013, down 73.6 percent
