Aug 04, 2014 (newstodate): Aeroflot's low-cost arm, Dobrolet has run into strong headwinds caused by the rift between Russia and the west over Ukraine.
The new EU-sanctions imposed have caused European companies to annul all leasing, servicing and insurance contracts covering the two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft that provide Dobrolet with uplift.
Dobrolet would have added new flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to Simferopol and Volgograd from this month, with new services to Samara, Ufa, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Surgut and Kazan to be initiated soon thereafter.
Dobrolet was about to take delivery of its third Boeing aircraft which has been withheld as well, and Dobrolet is now considering seeking other non-EU partners for resumption of services.
The airline was founded in the autumn of 2013 and started operations in May 2014 on a Boeing 737-800NG.
