Aug 15, 2014 (newstodate): As a new entity in the Russian Federation, Crimea is slowly seeking resumption of international air services amid sustained embargo by Ukraine, supported by most European countries.
As one example, efforts are now being made to resume air links between Simferopol and Yerevan, in Armenia, while no information on which carrier will apply for traffic rights has yet been provided.
More surprisingly, Israel is also to have new scheduled direct flights from the Crimea, with plans for opening of the route between Simferopol and Tel Aviv.
One carrier is already offering charter flights between these two destinations - Grozny Avia based in Grozny, the Chechen Republic.
