Aug 06, 2014 (newstodate): Airbus has a strong appetite for the Chinese aviation market.
For good reasons: in its latest market analysis, Airbus predicts the Chinese air passenger market to grow by more than seven percent annually compared to the world average of 4.7 percent - and the country's annual growth rate may even surpass 10 percent over the coming 10 years.
Airbus thus sees a market in China for more than 200 Airbus A380 aircraft, and over the next 20 years China will need more than 4,000 new passenger and cargo aircraft.
So far, China Southern Airlines remains the only Chinese customer for the A380, operating a fleet of five units of this type and holding no options or orders for further deliveries.
Up to now, Airbus has booked orders for a total of 318 Airbus A380 aircraft, 138 of which have been delivered.
