Aug 01, 2014 (newstodate): The AF/KLM Group's decision on the future of Martinair was not reached by the end of July, 2014, as earlier predicted.
-A definitive announcement will be made in September 2014, and several scenarios are still open, spanning from an outright sale to a joint venture with a partner, says Noud Duyzings, Director KLM/Air France/Martinair Cargo Nordic.
-One thing is certain, though: full-freighter offerings will remain with AF/KLM Cargo at least through 2016, while we will definitely down-size the full-freighter fleet as a complement to our belly capacity in addition to capacity on our Boeing 747 combi-freighters that will remain in the fleet of KLM till the end of 2020.
-In the meantime we note that the H1 2014 results for AF/KLM/Martinair Cargo show considerable improvements. There is still a loss on the bottom line, but a 10 percent improvement under strained market conditions, says Mr Duyzings.
