Jul 03, 2014 (newstodate): On a 12-month running basis, three carriers especially compete for the lead in Sweden's IATA export air cargo market.
In the period July 2013-May 2014, SAS Cargo was still at the #1 position with 14,981 tonnes of export cargo, corresponding to a market share at 14,48 percent.
But hot on the heals of SAS Cargo was KLM Cargo with 12,981 tonnes and a market share at 12,53 percent - while #3, Lufthansa Cargo generated 11,643 tonnes securing a market share at 11,32 percent.
Equally telling, however, is the fact that while SAS Cargo was down in volumes by 8,25 percent, y-o-y, during the 12-month period, KLM Cargo grew by no less than 52,72 percent, while Lufthansa Cargo followed SAS Cargo in the downward trend by dipping 2.18 percent.
KLM Cargo is thus threatening SAS Cargo's leading position in the Swedish IATA export market, and adding the volumes generated by its sister company, Air France Cargo, still outside the Top-10 list, KLM/AF Cargo's growth is remarkable.
In May 2014, the latest month accounted for by CASS statistics, KLM Cargo came out #1 with 929 tonnes while SAS Cargo managed 571 tonnes ranking the company #4 after both Lufthansa Cargo, 736 tonnes, and Finnair Cargo, 641 tonnes.
