Jul 04, 2014 (newstodate): Stories in the trade press, including newstodate, about KLM/AF having decided to divest of its freighter carrier Martinair are premature.
-There is indeed no decision by the KLM/AF Group as of now on the future of our full-freighter solution, says Noud Duyzings, Director KLM/Air France/Martinair Cargo Nordic.
-At this point in time, all options are still open - we may continue with Martinair as it is today, we may seek the continuation of the full-freighter operations in a partnership with others, or there may be further options.
-What is important to stress, however, is that full-freighter offerings will remain part of our total services as long as full-freighters are operated at all. We will indeed continue to sell wide-body capacity on full-freighters, in addition to capacity on our Boeing 747 combi-freighters that will remain in the fleet of KLM till the end of 2020.
-So all options are still under consideration while a final decision will be announced by the end of July 2014, says Mr Duyzings.
