Jul 04, 2014 (newstodate): China is deepening its influence over Kyrgyzstan's airports.
China and Kyrgyzstan have inked a contract, allowing Beijing Construction Corporation to invest about 1 bio USD in construction of an airport shopping mall at Manas Airport as well as reconstruction of Batken International Airport that gained its international status only on April 19, 2014, and Tamchi Issyk-Kul International Airport.
China is seeing potentials in Manas Airport as a future air transit hub, beating similar interest and preliminary understandings with Russian companies that now seem to have lost in the race.
In a separate contract, the Chinese company will also undertake to construct a new international airport at Osh to become a new passenger and cargo hub serving the region.
