Jun 04, 2014 (newstodate): KLM Cargo has been performing strongly in the Swedish IATA export airfreight market over the last 12 months, statistics show.
Seen over the period May 2013-April 2014, SAS Cargo still remains on the top of the list of IATA carriers, with 14.6 percent of the market but declining 6.3 percent, y-o-y, in volumes totaling 15,208 tonnes.
The negative trend has however continued in April 2014, the latest figure available, when SAS Cargo saw a drop by 22.07 percent to 991 tonnes.
During the same 12-month period ending April 2014, #2, KLM Cargo grew its volumes by 65.23 percent, to 13,122 tonnes, corresponding to 12.6 percent of the market.
And in April 2014, KLM Cargo continued to grow in volumes, to 913 tonnes - up 3.81 percent, y-o-y.
Similarly, the gap in market shares between the two carriers narrowed further in April 2014, with SAS Cargo at 13.16 percent and KLM Cargo at 12.12 percent.
If the volumes by Air France Cargo, KLM Cargo's twin, were incorporated the position of SAS Cargo in its home market would be further threatened.
