Jun 05, 2014 (newstodate): Shanghai reigns supreme on top of the list of IATA export airfreight destinations from Sweden over the past 12 months.
A total of 9,551 tonnes of export cargo was destined for Shanghai, and while this destination thus retained a comfortable distance to #2 on the list, New York with 6,939 tonnes, Shanghai was down by 3.3 percent, y-o-y, while New York stormed ahead with an increase by 77.5 percent.
In April 2014 alone, this trend was further marked by a drop in ex-Sweden exports to Shanghai by 20 percent to 698 tonnes, while New York continued to storm ahead with a growth in volumes by 125.7 percent, y-o-y, to 658 tonnes and thus closing in on Shanghai.
In the latest 12-month period, Chicago has held the position as #3 on the list with 5,649 tonnes, followed by #4, Tokyo with 4,217 tonnes - but while Chicago was down by 12.4 percent, y-o-y, Tokyo was rising by 28.5 percent.
In April 2014, the two destinations changed places on the list, with Tokyo ranking third with 352 tonnes and up 17.9 percent, and Chicago down to #5 with 292 tonnes after dropping 55.6 percent.
The position as #4 was thus taken by Dubai that grew its volumes by 78.3 percent to 304 tonnes.
