Jun 24, 2014 (newstodate): Russia's Superjet 100 is doing well in Mexico where the low-cost carrier Interjet is building up a significant fleet of the aircraft.
Interjet, Mexico's second-largest carrier, has now taken delivery of its 8th Superjet 100 aircraft and plans to add another 12 units before the end of this year.
In January 2011, Interjet signed a contract for the purchase of 10 Superjet 100 aircraft plus options for another five, and activated the five options in May 2012, bringing the firm orders to 20, all of which will thus have been delivered by 2014.
The first aircraft was delivered on June 18, 2013, and Interjet stills holds options for another 10 Superjet 100 aircraft.
