Jun 23, 2014 (newstodate): Negotiations between Russia's ministry of transportation and the EU Commission have broken down.
As a result, movement of air cargo between Europe and Russian may come to a stop from July 1, 2014, already, unless the parties agree on a solution after renewed last-minute negotiations.
So far, the EU Commission has refused to add Russia to its "green list" of countries that can bring in airfreight to Europe at standard checks adhering to ICAO and IOSA requirements.
Instead, EU is rating Russia as a third-country, which requires additional safety checks and documentation, and validation of the incoming shipments at EU airports by inspectors.
Russia refuses to perform the required additional safety checks, or to provide additional information on the shipments.
