Jun 23, 2014 (newstodate): Greenland Express is preparing for launch of services on a new route between Iceland and Denmark.
Plans are to start operating between Akureyri and Copenhagen Airport with first flight on June 25, 2014, using the Fokker 100 aircraft reserve aircraft from Denim Air.
In addition to providing two flights on the new route, Greenland Express will also open up for further business from Northern Iceland in the form of ad-hoc and charter flights for business, cultural or other purposes.
In addition to the potentials for passenger transport, air cargo is also an important option as northern Iceland is home to some of Iceland's largest seafood exporters that would benefit from access to direct flights to Europe rather than relying solely on eight hours of trucking to Keflavik Airport in the south.
