Jun 13, 2014 (newstodate): Two carriers are competing for the top ranking in Poland's IATA export airfreight market.
The country's leading carrier LOT Polish Airlines and Germany's Lufthansa Cargo are constantly vying for #1 rating in this year's monthly statistics, both scoring highest in two of the four months so far reported.
LOT gained the upper hand in January and April 2014, with 339 and 464 tonnes, respectively, while Lufthansa topped the list in February and March 2014 with 361 and 450 tonnes, respectively.
The Polish IATA export airfreight market has shown positive growth in all four months, ranging from 18.9 percent, y-o-y, in January to 6.43 percent in April 2014 to a total of 1,870 tonnes.
In April Emirates was ranked #3 with 252 tonnes, followed by KLM Cargo and Turkish Airlines Cargo.
But while the top-3 carriers held market shares as 24.79, 18.35 and 13.45 percent, respectively, #4 was down to 8.83 percent and the remaining Top-10 carriers also held one-digit market shares.
Dropping the most among IATA carriers in April 2014 was #8, SAS down 59.32 percent, y-o-y, to 86 tonnes, while Turkish Airlines beat all competitors in growth with 202.87 percent, to 120 tonnes
