Jun 25, 2014 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is modernizing its airports infrastructure to enhance traffic and international services.
Over the next three years, the country will reconstruct the runways at five airports in the country.
In 2014, work will start on runway reconstruction projects at the airports of Uralsk and Petropavlovsk, during 2015-2016 the runways at the airports of Semipalatinsk and Kostanai will be reconstructed, followed by the runway at Oskemen Airport in 2016-2017.
As part of the plan to vitalize the country's infrastructure, the runways at Taraz and Shymkent airports were reconstructed in 2013.
Kazakhstan has a total of 18 airports, 16 of which are open for international traffic, and 12 of these are certified at ICAO standards.
