Jun 11, 2014 (newstodate): The French company Vinci Airport is deepening its cooperation with Tajikistan's Dushanbe Airport.
New item to be included in the cooperation between the two parties is the construction of a new ATM tower at the airport, to be equipped to European standards by French providers.
Vinci Airport is already involved in the construction of a new international terminal.
Vinci Airport took over the project as another French company, Sofrema proved unable to meet plans and deadlines, which has seriously delayed the project that was earlier slated for completion by end of 2011 already.
The contract with Vinci was signed on April 27, 2012, and physical construction works were resumed from December 28, 2012.
The construction process will result in a new 11,000 sq m passenger terminal with capacity of handling 500 passengers per hour and increasing the airport's capacity by 2.5 times.
Also in the reconstruction program is the construction of three new taxiways, aircraft parking stands and a new apron area.
The airport has one 3,100m runway and is home base for Tajik Air and the privately-owned carrier Somon Air.
