Jun 25, 2014 (newstodate): Starting from today, Finnair Cargo is adding its fourth weekly wide-body freighter frequency from Brussels with A300-600 freighter departures on Mondays and Saturdays, and A340 passenger flights on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
-This will enable us to offer departures throughout the week with fast onward connections to our 13 Asian destinations, says Juha Jrvinen, Finnair Cargo Managing Director.
-Our largest destinations to and from Brussels are Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka. We have been pleased with the development, now holding a 26 percent market share, accumulated 12 months to April 2014, of Belgian exports to our key destinations, with Nagoya on the top.
-Pharmaceutical exports are an important part of our Brussels growth plans for the future, and we can see steady improvement in this segment. In March-April 2014 we more than doubled our pharmaceutical cargo revenues from Belgium compared to same period last year, and adding more frequencies we expect the trend to continue.
-Finnair Cargo is participating actively in the new IATA and BRUcargo project. Growth forecasts for pharma from Europe to Asia are promising, and with our fast transit & dedicated cool chain facilities at Helsinki, we believe we have strong product to offer to the Benelux and German pharmaceutical exporters, says Mr Jrvinen.
