Jun 30, 2014 (newstodate): The US-led sanctions on Iran have long been posing obstacles for Iran Air's services between Tehran and European destinations. Now the situation is beginning to lighten up..
The sanctions were imposed from 2010, but in the coming weeks and months several European states will gradually lift the ban on fueling aircraft from Iran Air.
First to move are the airports in Germany and Holland, French airport are to follow suit over the next few days, and most European countries will join in the nearest future as some accord has been reached in the talks over Iran's nuclear program.
Most major oil companies including Statoil, BP, Royal Dutch Shell and Q8 suspended deliveries of jet fuel to Iran Air at European airports, forcing the carrier to either operate with limited cabin factors out of Iran and adding en-route stops in Balkan airports to fuel for the return flights.
