Jun 16, 2014 (newstodate): Plans are again being mulled for start of first-ever flights to connect Croatia and China by direct air links.
Behind the plan is the organization the Chinese Southeast European Business Association, CSEBA, set up in February 2014 on the initiative of former Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.
CSEBA has now announced that flights between between Zagreb and Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing will start by October 2014, with a program of charter operations running till June 2015.
No details concerning which airline is to operate the flights, but CSEBA will start out with cooperating with a Chinese carrier before setting up an own airline.
CSEBA aims at setting up agencies in China, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia to effectively serve common business interests.
