Jun 30, 2014 (newstodate): The Polish full-charter and ACMI carrier Bingo Airways has run into severe turbulence.
The carrier has lost some of its important charter contracts while two of its three Airbus A320 aircraft has been returned to the leasing company after the carrier had its AOC revoked for failing to meet its financial obligations.
The carrier is now seeking recapitalization and will work out a new business plan aiming at relaunching operations.
In the short term, this is creating some turbulence in the European ACMI market due to the shortfall of this capacity in the midst of the peak summer season.
Based at Warsaw Chopin Airport, Bingo Airways was founded in November 2011 and launched flights on May 15, 2012.
Behind its launch of business were the Luxembourg-based Travel Holding International, and the CEO and founder of Bingo Airways is Marek Sidor, formerly serving as Malev COO as well as holding earlier positions with EuroLOT and LOT.
