Jun 16, 2014 (newstodate): While Greenland Express has yet to launch service on its planned core route between Greenland and Denmark via Iceland, the carrier is now confirming that flights between Akureyri and Denmark will also be started soon.
Earlier plans called for Greenland Express to start at Akureyri already from April 28 on the route from Copenhagen between Copenhagen Airport and Akureyri, but the picture was soon blurred and the hopes for the route were fading.
Now, Greenland Express is stating that it will operate on the route from July 1, 2014, using the Fokker 100 aircraft from Denim Air dedicated to secure back-up capacity for Greenland Express' Greenland flights.
The service will reportedly be provided with two rotations per week.
The market is also now awaiting the launch of services by Greenland Express on the route to and from Greenland, last scheduled for June 17, 2014.
