Jun 06, 2014 (newstodate): As quite an innovation in the aviation business, the Latvian carrier introduced its free Baltic bus service starting from March 1, 2014.
From the start, the bus service has been designed to link Riga Airport to the central bus stations in Valmiera, Jekabpils, Jelgava and Daugavpils in Latvia, Tartu in Estonia, and Siauliai in Lithuania as an addition to the carrier's four air services in the Baltic region.
-The reception has been quite good, not least considering the low-key promotion that was selected in order to test the market and secure a controlled implementation of this new feature, says Janis Vanags, airBaltic VP Communications.
-We have made some adjustments along the way and we are quite optimistic about the eventual success of this unique service bookable via the reservation systems in connection to the air ticket and run according to a set schedule synchronized with airBaltic flight arrival and departure times, offering connections to airports in Europe, the Middle East and Russia and the CIS.
-After this first summer season, we will evaluate the performance and the experience gained to decide on the future set-up and development on this venture, says Mr Vanags.
