May 15, 2014 (newstodate): Subscribers to IATA's CASS statistics in the Nordic region would be well advised to check on the validity of the figures.
The monthly statistics show the airlines' invoiced sales in the four Nordic markets, market shares and changes, year-on-year.
In the case of Norway, at least the CASS figures for March 2014 seem to be unreliable and inconsistent.
Checking a few of the Top-10 airlines listed, CASS' own figures show that a carrier like SAS Cargo in March 2014 increased its invoiced tonnage by 9.6 percent, y-o-y, but comparing the figures presented the increase is rather 16.3 percent, y-o-y.
Another example is KLM Cargo where CASS reports an increase by 72.6 percent, y-o-y, in March 2014. But again according to CASS' own previously announced figures, the increase should rather be 98 percent, y-o-y.
Also the total volumes invoiced by IATA carriers in the Norwegian market in March 2014 is reported to show an increase by 36.6 percent, y-o-y, according to CASS Nordic, while the figure should be 42.4 percent if the figure reported in 2013 should be valid.
As newstodate is not itself a subscriber to the monthly CASS statistics it will be up to subscribing IATA airlines themselves to seek an explanation from CASS in Canada.
