May 12, 2014 (newstodate): While IATA carriers report sharply rising volumes of export cargo out of Norway, the country's own statistics on cargo volumes from Oslo Gardermoen Airport see the total volumes down in 2014.
In the first four months of this year, the airport thus handled a total of 37,238 tonnes of cargo, down 1.6 percent, y-o-y.
In April 2014 a total of 8,680 tonnes of cargo was handled, a drop by 4.4 percent, y-o-y, and actually, three out of four months in 2014 have been marked by decline in volumes.
The decrease is, however, driven by a sustained monthly two-digit drop in domestic cargo, totaling 9,334 tonnes in January-April 2014, down 14.6 percent, y-o-y, while international cargo fared better with a 3.6 percent increase during the period, to 27, 904 tonnes.
