May 05, 2014 (newstodate): North Germany's Frankfurt Hahn Airport has lost several all-cargo carriers over the recent year - but this year will bring one piece of good news to the airport.
Newcomer to the airport will be Air China Cargo with two new round-the-world freighter operations calling at Frankfurt Hahn as their sole European destination.
Starting from July 1, 2014, the carrier will operate two China-US-Europe-China flights, with three weekly services on the route Shanghai Pu Dong Anchorage Chicago Frankfurt Hahn Shanghai Pu Dong, and two weekly services with New York JFK replacing Chicago, thus calling five time weekly at Frankfurt Hahn to load European export cargo to Shanghai.
All flights will be operated with Air China Cargo's Boeing 777F, of which the carrier now has three with a further five still to be delivered.
On the dark side were Qatar Airways Cargo leaving Frankfurt Hahn in favor of Frankfurt Airport from October 27, 2013, Aeroflot Cargo that stopped its freighter operations from July 2013, Air Cargo Germany that went bust by mid-April 2013, and Etihad Crystal Cargo that also left Frankfurt Hahn Airport in favor of Frankfurt Airport from the start of 2013.
Currently serving Frankfurt Hahn Airport are the Chinese carriers Yangtze River Express with up to three weekly rotations, Navitrans cooperating with Evergreen with one weekly flights, as well as Nippon Cargo Airlines.
