May 1, 2014 (newstodate): According to the latest information from Latvia's airBaltic, the airline saw both passenger volumes and production down during this year's Q1.
In January-March 2014 the carrier transported 489,190 passengers on 9,305 flights.
That was a decline in passenger volumes by 8.6 percent, y-o-y, exceeding the decline in flight operations by 3.9 percent, entailing a decline in load factors.
In contrast to earlier periods, the airline did not present any information on the economic performance or the yield development in Q1/2104, leaving it open to see whether or not the Q1 results were still supportive of the airline's requirements under the ongoing restructuring program entailing sustained cost efficiency to secure profitable operations.
