May 05, 2014 (newstodate): After years with ageing aircraft in the country's airlines, Iran is looking ahead to replenish its commercial airline fleets.
The country's National Development Fund has thus allocated 500 million dollars to purchasing of new passenger aircraft.
The country's airlines will need 400 passenger planes until 2025, translating into a need for adding 40 new aircraft annually.
One carrier, Iran Aseman Airline, now operates 33 aircraft including two Airbus A340-300 and has decided to acquire more long-haul wide-body aircraft to develop routes to the Middle East and Europe.
