Apr 01, 2014 (newstodate): The Ukrainian airport handling company Interavia is upbeat on its expectations for further development after the split with its former co-owner, Swissport.
Now fully controlled by Ukraine International Airlines, Interavia has invested in new equipment and significantly expanded the range of services provided to airline customers.
The handling company now employs over 1,000 staff providing a range of integrated services across three airports: Kiev Boryspil International, Kiev Zhulyany International, and Kharkiv International.
In addition to providing core passenger and ramp handling services, INTERAVIA has opened its own service and technical centre rendering comprehensive maintenance of ground equipment, invested in new de-icing equipment and received certification for de-icing services.
With new software solutions, INTERAVIA Training Centre has also been certified to offer training for aviation personnel in a range of services including development of aviation security.
Set up in June 2006 as a JV between Swissport and UIA, Internavia Handling Company was managed by Victor Semenchenko managing director who has been replaced after the split by April 2013 between the former JV partners that have since been fighting in the courts after UIA's unilateral abrogation of the cooperation that resulted in a total ouster of Swissport.
