Apr 10, 2014 (newstodate): Ambitions for implementation of the e-AWB are high in the Nordic region, and a tight time frame has been agreed.
As announced at the Nordic Air Cargo Symposium in Stockholm earlier this week, nine IATA carriers have now agreed to taking the lead in the process, including Lufthansa Cargo, KLM/Air France, Finnair, SAS, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airlines and Emirates.
Spearheading the process in the Swedish market will be Lufthansa Cargo, in Norway KLM/Air France will lead, in Denmark SAS Cargo will drive the process, as will Finnair Cargo in Finland.
The process will lift off with ambitions to reach the percentage of e-AWBs to 22 percent by the end of 2014, 45 percent by the end of 2015 - and 80 percent one year later.
As from May 1, FWB message before GAC will be mandatory for all shipments on participating carriers, and during May the lead carriers will arrange a series of forwarder workshops.
June/July will see preparatory work to implement processes and enhance data quality, and August 14, 2014, will see the e-AWB Launch Nordics with Single Process.
This process will be deepened from 2015 with a similar roll-out in the Baltic markets as well as Iceland.
