Apr 30, 2014 (newstodate): Long rumored, the opening of a new route by Emirates into the Balkan region is again being aired.
According to industry sources, Emirates is planning to launch flights from Dubai to Belgrade, in Serbia, starting from later this year with five weekly rotations replacing the flydubai-operation.
Speculations have, however, been around for several years, and the carrier has still not publicly stated intentions of opening up flights into Serbia.
Serbia is already very much in the focus of another Gulf carrier - Etihad that is now operating with its equity-partner Air Serbia in building up a strong presence in the Balkan market.
