Apr 03, 2014 (newstodate): A new Russian freighter service will bring life back to Sweden's Malmo Sturup Airport that has seen a sharp decline in cargo volumes over the recent period.
Starting from this month, ABC Airlines will operate a weekly call at Malmo Sturup Airport as an en-route stop on the route between Amsterdam and Moscow with Boeing 747-8F freighter, connecting beyond Moscow to its network in North America and Asia.
The new service comes as an addition to the Volga-Dnepr Group's subsidiary, Atran Cargo Airlines that is already serving the route with a weekly Boeing 737-400F freighter flight since January 9, 2014.
Serving both carriers with sales in the Nordic region is the cargo GSSA Kales Airline Services.
In 2013, cargo volumes at Malmo Sturup Airport dropped by 10 percent to 22,217 tonnes.
