Apr 28, 2014 (newstodate): Lithuania's Air Lituanica is to focus its future fleet plans on Embraer aircraft.
The carrier is now operating one Embraer E-175 aircraft on a lease contract with contract with ECC Leasing Company and one Bombardier CRJ200 leased from the Danish carrier Cimber.
-We have found the CRJ200 a perfect match for our shorter routes from Vilnius to Tallinn, Berlin and Prague where we mostly use this aircraft, says Simonas Bartkus, Air Lituanica CCO.
-We are going to extend the wet-lease of this CRJ200 aircraft for a longer period as this allows us to grow frequencies on shorter routes and better serve the needs of business passengers.
-We are indeed going to add a third aircraft to the fleet, but it is still too early to say which routes this aircraft will serve.
-In the mid-term, we are going to grow to a three aircraft operation. This could imply either three Embraer E170 or E175, or two of these aircraft in addition to one wet-leased Embraer CRJ200, says Mr Bartkus.
The carrier's current summer schedule comprises 43 weekly rotations with the two aircraft now in the fleet.
