Apr 14, 2014 (newstodate): The charter and ACMI carrier Small Planet Airlines, based at Vilnius, Lithuania, is reaching out for contracts in Africa.
Since March 2014, Small Planet Airlines is working with Afriqiyah Airways, Libya's state-owned airline, operating daily regular flights from Tripoli International Airport to EU destinations Dusseldorf, London Gatwick and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Flights are performed with two Airbus A320 aircraft from Small Planet airlines on a two-months contract.
-The flights have been going well and we are looking into extension with the Libyan customer until end of May. At that point both aircraft will come back to Europe, as we are fully sold out for Summer 2014 on all of our 11 aircraft. One is kept as a stand-by, so not sold out of course, says Vytautas Kaikaris, Small Planet Airlines CEO.
New assignment is also one daily flight from Stockholm to Modagishu via Hurghada for the Swedish air broker FlexFlight.
This operation will start from May 26, 2014, targeting mainly the Somalian ethnic communities in Scandinavia.
