Apr 16, 2014 (newstodate): After the partial easing of restrictions on Iran, the country is hoping to be able to renovate its fleet of commercial aircraft in the near future.
Orders have already been placed on new aircraft, the first four of which are reportedly due for delivery within only few days.
Plans are to take in 20 new aircraft annually, bringing the country's airline fleet up to 550 aircraft by 2025.
As an intermediate effort, the US government has now allowed the US manufacturers to resume trade with Iran of aircraft parts and components for maintenance of the existing fleet of commercial aircraft.
