Apr 25, 2014 (newstodate): The new virtual carrier Greenland Express will launch commercial services from June 2, 2014 as phase 1 of the project.
-Our imminent goal is now to have everything in place for the start of operations, which includes also all contracts at the airports involved - Aalborg Airport, Copenhagen Airport, Keflavik Airport, and the two airports in Greenland, Narsarssuaq and Kangerlussuaq, says Gert Brask, Greenland Express CEO.
-As from the start, our passengers will need to book own tickets with Air Greenland if they require connecting flights to and from our destinations in Greenland that remains our top priority.
-In a next phase we will introduce own feeder services to and from Narsarssuaq and Kangerlussuaq, with turboprop aircraft suited to the airfields of Greenland. Work on this has already started but we will require some time after the initial launch of the Transatlantic flights before a solution can be presented.
-From the start we will be able to sell not only tickets on flights between Denmark and Greenland, but based on our commercial rights we will also be able to offer tickets in the Icelandic market for flights between Iceland and Denmark, and tickets for flights between Aalborg and Copenhagen Airport. All these activities have, however, been outsources to Discover the World Marketing's Scandinavian office leaving us to focus on the flight operations, says Mr Brask.
