Mar 11, 2014 (newstodate): First direct non-stop flights between Moscow and Taipei, Taiwan, are now emerging.
The Russian carrier Transaero has won the rights to start direct flights between Moscow Vnukovo Airport and Taipei from July 3, 2014, offering one weekly rotation with Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
So far, the lack of diplomatic relations between Russia and Taiwan has hindered direct flight offerings, leaving passengers to transit through a third point.
In April 2013, Transaero and China Airlines signed a code-share agreement on flights between Moscow and Taipei via Bangkok, with Transaero operating the flights between Moscow and Bangkok, and China Airlines carrying passengers on the flights connecting Bangkok and Taipei.
