Apr 04, 2014 (newstodate): Japan is a crucial market for Finnair that is again to increase its services on one of its four routes from Helsinki.
Starting from the next winder schedules, Finnair will thus add one more frequency on the route from Helsinki to Nagoya, going up to five weekly rotations using Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
Finnair started flights to Nagoya from June 2006 as its third destination in Japan after Tokyo and Osaka, making the carrier the first airline in northern Europe with routes to all three most important Japanese cities.
Finnair Cargo does not currently operate freighter flights to Japan but is utilizing the belly space on the airline's passenger aircraft.
In addition, Finnair Cargo has also signed a contract with its oneworld partner Japan Air Lines comprising sale of all capacity on this carrier's four weekly Boeing 787 rotations since March 2013 on the route between Tokyo Narita and Helsinki Vaanta Airport in cooperation with Finnair.
Weighing heavily on Finnair Cargo's services to Japan is the Norwegian salmon trucked from production sites in Norway into Helsinki Vantaa Airport, with volumes generally around 300 tonnes per week.
