Apr 11, 2014 (newstodate): The Kazakh carrier Air Astana has been lifted off the EU Airline Black list in its latest revision, dated April 10, 2014.
Air Astana is thus the only airline registered in Kazakhstan that has regained full freedom to develop its air services into EU countries, leaving 22 other Kazakh airlines prohibited from flights into the EU.
According to the aviation safety Committee of the European Union, Air Astana has confirmed full conformity of its systems and security procedures with international standards, and therefore is exempt from the restrictions imposed in July 2009, following on the ICAO Audit in April of the same year.
Air Astana currently operates three weekly flights from Almaty and Astana to London and daily flights to Frankfurt, and from Astana and Atyrau to Amsterdam six times per week.
The carrier is now set to open flights to new European destinations such as Paris and Prague by the end of 2014 or early in 2015.
