Mar 13, 2014 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo is increasing its capacity offerings in the coming summer schedule 2014.
The company will introduce a third weekly rotation on the route HelsinkiHanoiHong KongHelsinki, adding more capacity on these trade lanes between Asia and Europe.
On the passenger transportation side, flights to Hanoi, Vietnam, will be upgraded to Airbus A340 services three times weekly from June 2, 2014.
With these six weekly flights to Hanoi, Finnair Cargo's total capacity from Europe to Vietnam will double from 155 tonnes to 315 tonnes per week, with 270 tonnes carried by MD-11F freighter and another 45 tonnes by A340 aircraft.
The seasonal route from Helsinki to Xian, China, will start again from March 30, 2014, with three weekly flights using Airbus A330 aircraft,
On the route from Helsinki to Hong Kong, Finnair is to offer additional A340 flights bringing the total number of weekly frequencies served with passenger aircraft up to between seven and nine, completing the MD-11F freighter service operated three times per week.
Starting from June 2, 2014, connections with North America will be enhanced with three weekly flights to Toronto, with Airbus A330 aircraft replacing the earlier Boeing 757 operations also increasing the cargo capacity on the route.
The once-weekly freighter service to New York is suspended, but cargo is still carried on daily flights with passenger aircraft between New York and Helsinki.
Finnair Cargo's second European hub at Brussels will be served with two weekly MD-11F freighter rotations in addition to a weekly A340 passenger aircraft service and four daily narrow-body flights, connecting to Finnair's over 90 weekly flights between Helsinki and 13 Asian cargo gateways.
