Mar 07, 2014 (newstodate): Thanks to the Norwegian salmon alone, Singapore Airlines Cargo managed to grow its total Nordic export cargo volumes in January 2014.
During the month, the carrier transported a total of 1,062 tonnes of cargo, up 17.2 percent, y-o-y, from the Nordic markets comprising the three Scandinavian countries plus Finland.
The growth was, however, secured only by sales in Norway where SIA Cargo aggregated 481 tonnes, up 61.8 percent, y-o-y, and landing on the position as #9 on the CASS Top-10 list.
In the three other Nordic markets counted together, the carrier's total volume was down by 4.6 percent, y-o-y, to 581 tonnes.
Export cargo sales in Denmark thus dropped 7.3 percent to 221 tonnes, sales in Finland were down by 16.1 percent to 63 tonnes, while SIA Cargo was also down in Sweden by 0.6 percent to 312 tonnes.
With effect from March 1, 2014, SIA Cargo has changed its sales structure in the Nordic and Baltic markets, contracting HWF as its new cargo GSSA in Sweden and Finland, retaining its own sales organization in Denmark while reportedly taking back its cargo sales also in Norway.
Since October 2011, Singapore Airlines Cargo was served by Cargo Care International in Sweden, Norway and Finland, while retaining its own sales organization in Denmark.
