Mar 31, 2014 (newstodate): Etihad investments in Serbia's reborn national carrier Air Serbia are certainly lifting the carrier to new heights, compared to its ailing, now defunct predecessor JAT.
Air Serbia has thus now confirmed an order for delivery of 10 A320neo aircraft to replace the eight A319 and two A320 aircraft now operated to gradually phase out the the aging fleet of 10 Boeing 737-300 aircraft.
The 10 A320neo aircraft will enter the carrier's fleet between 2018-20.
Air Serbia is to open flights to Banja Luka in Bosnia, Bucharest in Romania, Ljubljana in Slovenia and to Prague in the Czech Republic in addition to the 25 destinations already served by Air Serbia.
In total, Air Serbia is adding flights on a total of 12 new routes to 11 countries during the first four months of this year, aiming at serving 39 destinations by June 2014.
In the meantime, the EU Commission has announced that is it to look closer into Etihad's massive involvement with several European airlines, including Also Air Serbia and Air Berlin to verify the extent of its control over these European airlines inside and outside the EU.
