Mar 05, 2014 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Yamal Airlines is to gradually replace its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft with Airbus A320 aircraft.
The carrier plans to build up the fleet of A320 aircraft to 20 in "the near future", while eventually keeping only four Boeing 737 aircraft in the fleet for regional flights before phasing them out entirely.
In the fleet now are seven Airbus A320, two Airbus A321, nine Boeing 737, and 10 CRJ200 aircraft.
Yamal Airlines is based at Salekhard Airport marked by harsh climatic conditions putting great stress on the maintenance and operation of the fleet.
