Mar 20, 2014 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Polet Airlines is fighting hard to survive amidst attempts to have it declared bankrupt for failing payments.
The Moscow Arbitration Court has just rejected two such claims from Air Partner and an insurance company after last-minute payments by Polet to settle the outstanding debts.
Polet currently operates a fleet of five SAAB 2000 and five SAAB 340 aircraft as well as two AN-148 operating a network comprising flights from Voronezh, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Yaroslavl and Ulyanovsk to Moscow and to St Petersburg, Munich and Yerevan.
The airline plans to add a further 15 SAAB 340 and eight AN-148 aircraft over the coming few years.
On the cargo side, Polet has also been operating two large AN-124 Ruslan freighter that have, however, been arrested for lack of leasing payments.
